Newcastle, England
Date:
3rd - 14th July 2008
Team Leader:
Andy Gibson
Cost:
£50 (to be paid in sterling to the Team leader at the beginning of the team)
Location:
Newcastle Upon Tyne is a thriving and exciting city in the north east of England. It has a long history dating back to Roman times, and of course has the greatest football team in the World - Newcastle United! Newcastle is situated on the north bank of the River Tyne, and is about 12miles from the sea. Most people in the region would be 'nominal Christians' although we have a growing Muslim population.
Regent Chapel Christian Fellowship was founded in the 1930's, and is situated on the edge of a residential area, about 3 miles from the city centre.
Andy & Claire Gibson have been GLO workers for 9 years and have just started working at Regent Chapel. Most of the team's work will be in the residential areas and schools around the church.
Programme:
Team times will take place each morning, and the Bible teaching will be brought to us by Sammy Gilchrist, a Counties worker in Cumbria. We will be involved in literature distribution, school assemblies and clubs, a USA night, a fun day, as well as church services etc.
We will have one day off, and will either explore the exciting city and quayside, or go to the beach if the weather is good.
